The Racecourse Ground sits on Mold Road immediately north west of Wrexham town centre, which is unusual among British grounds for being genuinely walkable from the middle of town. That proximity is the key to planning a matchday here. The streets immediately around the ground fill early and clear slowly, whereas the town centre itself remains accessible for considerably longer. Setting down in town and walking the short distance up Mold Road is almost always quicker than attempting to reach the turnstiles by vehicle.
The ground is also the oldest international stadium in the world still hosting international football, which brings additional fixtures beyond the club calendar and a corresponding rise in demand on those dates.
Approaching Wrexham From England
A large share of the Racecourse crowd now travels in from Cheshire and Merseyside. From Chester the A483 is direct and rarely troublesome outside matchday peaks. From the Wirral and Ellesmere Port the approach through Queensferry and along the A483 works well. From Manchester the M56 and then the A483 through Chester is the standard route, and the final stretch into Wrexham is where the time is lost on a matchday rather than on the motorway. The Cardiff Fixture and Longer Away Days
The opening fixture at Cardiff City on the Monday evening is a genuine undertaking from North Wales, running south along the A483 and the A470 or taking the longer motorway route through the Midlands. For a group of five or six the V-Class is the sensible choice, keeping everybody together and allowing conversation on the journey. Larger supporter parties are better served by a coach, which sets down and collects at an agreed point and removes the co-ordination problem entirely. Making a Day of It in North East Wales
Wrexham sits within easy reach of some genuinely worthwhile country, and a fair number of our matchday bookings extend into a fuller day. The Dee valley towards Llangollen is twenty minutes away, and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a short detour that most visitors have never seen. Parties frequently ask us to run out that way before an afternoon kick-off, or to take a longer route home afterwards through the Ceiriog valley. This works particularly well for visiting supporters staying locally who want more from the trip than the ninety minutes.

Championship fixtures move for television selection with some regularity, and Wrexham now attract broadcast attention out of proportion to their league position, which means their fixtures move more often than most. International Fixtures at the Racecourse
The ground hosts Wales international fixtures alongside the club calendar, and these bring a different crowd and a different set of arrival conditions. International dates draw supporters from across Wales and from further afield, many of whom have never visited Wrexham before and have no sense of how the town handles a full house. The approaches fill earlier than for a league fixture, and the walk from any parking found at short notice is often considerably longer than expected. Setting down in the town centre and walking up Mold Road remains the reliable approach, and it applies with more force on an international night than on an ordinary Saturday.
Where Supporters Travel From
The catchment has widened enormously in recent seasons. Alongside the traditional support from Wrexham, Flintshire and the Dee valley towns, the ground now draws regularly from Chester, the Wirral, Liverpool and Manchester, and from the North Wales coast towns as far as Llandudno and Conwy. Each of those journeys has its own character, and the coastal run along the A55 behaves very differently from the motorway approach through Cheshire, particularly across summer weekends when the holiday traffic is heavy in both directions.
